Oberbaum City |
The external fabric of all the buildings was restored
and new structures created to supplement them in a way
loyal to the spirit and quality of the original architecture.
A fine example of this is the new landmark of Oberbaum
City, the sixteen-storey office tower.
|
Striking in appearance, the tower - designed by
architects Schweger + Partner - accords well with the
Narva ensemble. The glazed crown was separated from
the historic substance by a single "air-floor", while
maintaining the original groundplan, contours and
impact. It has the maximum permitted height of 61 m.
In terms of urban planning, the new structures
complement the strict early 20th century concept.
