City West, Frankfurt am Main       Theodor-Heuss-Allee 100, City West The site is situated directly on Theodor-Heuss-Allee, just 1,000 m or so from the inner-city. Its position and shape make it ideal for creating a prominent new "entrée" to the centre of this metropolis on the River Main. On the eastern part of the site, a small modern urban park is being laid out for local residents, while the western part will be compactly built-up. The layout of the future head office of investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein is simple and clearcut: two U-shaped sevenfloor office buildings, with a slender high-rise glass structure between them. Clients approach the ensemble via a large drive on Theodor-Heuss-Allee and then enter the five-floor fully glazed atrium which forms the heart of the bank. Blue-tinted Jurassic stone, gleaming woven stainless steel material, matt glass, clear glass and noble types of wood set their stamp on this light-flooded world. Above this are the office premises, connected with one another from the atrium by lifts and glass bridges. The facades of the side buildings consist of a finely structured system of openable elements with printed metal and glass surfaces which in places are slightly reflectant. With increasing height, the impression of lightness and transparency grows. The tower has a double facade with floor-to-floor glazing that towards the top makes the contours almost disappear. The building, which features natural lighting and ventilation, offers an overwhelming panorama of the city around it from every office.
